A dual-token model connects company-specific economic interests with priority access, transparent reporting and a structured path from participation to settlement
METS Protocol presents a considered path to private-company opportunities in smaller units.
METS Protocol today presented its concept for making private-company investment opportunities easier to understand and accessible in smaller participation units. The proposed platform combines company-specific asset tokens with a separate METS utility token, creating a clear distinction between the economic interest attached to an individual product and the benefits available across the wider platform.
The concept is designed around a simple idea: people should be able to evaluate a private-company opportunity company by company, understand the assets and conditions supporting their position, and follow a defined process after participation. Representative examples include companies in space and transportation, payments and financial infrastructure, and artificial intelligence, with SpaceX, Stripe and OpenAI used to illustrate the intended investment universe. These examples do not represent partnerships or a fixed list of available products.
Under the proposed structure, a dedicated special purpose vehicle, or SPV, acquires and holds the shares associated with each product. Asset tokens such as mSPCX, mSTRIP and mOAI would record an economic interest in the applicable product’s net assets and settlement proceeds. The number of units issued would correspond to the product’s assets and terms. An asset-token unit would not represent one underlying share, and the rights, claims, restrictions and settlement process would be defined separately for each product.
METS serves a different role. It is the common platform token intended to support priority applications, secondary trading fee discounts and advisory voting. METS does not represent ownership of an SPV’s assets and is not required for general participation. This separation is central to the protocol’s design: asset tokens connect participants to a specific opportunity, while METS provides optional benefits that apply across the platform.
The proposed participant journey follows three stages. First, participants complete identity and eligibility checks, compare available products and review the underlying assets, unit structure, fees and restrictions. Second, they apply for units and, after acquisition and allocation are confirmed, review their holdings through monthly asset reports. Third, they may continue to hold, place an order with an eligible counterparty, or receive redemption proceeds after the underlying shares are sold and settlement is complete. Secondary orders require a matching counterparty, price and quantity, so a preferred sale time or price is not guaranteed.
METS Protocol also proposes a three-tier participation model. Silver provides access to the general allocation without a METS lock. Gold requires a 90-day lock of 1,000 METS and is designed to provide access to general and Gold priority allocations together with a 25% discount on secondary trading fees. Platinum requires a 90-day lock of 10,000 METS and is designed to provide access to general and Platinum priority allocations with a 50% secondary trading fee discount. Advisory voting would allow METS holders to express interest in candidate companies and priorities for platform development, while operating and product decisions remain with the platform operator.
The METS platform token supports clearly defined Silver, Gold and Platinum participation tiers.
The fee model is intended to make costs visible at each stage. The illustrative schedule includes a 2% initial purchase fee, a 0.5% fee for each side of an executed secondary trade and a 1% annual asset management fee, calculated and reconciled under the applicable product terms. Network expenses and actual settlement costs may also apply. Product pages would distinguish the participation principal, fees and other applicable costs before a purchase is made.
Transparency is built into the proposed operating model. Monthly reporting would show asset quantities, issued units, costs, indicative asset values and material changes. Quarterly checks would reconcile asset records with issued units. Reports would identify the date, method and scope of valuations, recognizing that an indicative value may differ from the price available in an actual transaction.
The proposed METS supply is fixed at 1,000,000,000 tokens, with no additional issuance planned. The allocation framework includes an initial sale, ecosystem development, treasury, team, liquidity, partners and community activities, each with a defined release schedule. The initial unlock ceiling is 125,000,000 METS. The framework also proposes using 20% of actual secondary trading fees, after discounts and refunds, for quarterly METS purchases and burns, with the amount spent and tokens burned disclosed in reports. The mechanism does not set or promise a token price or investment return.
Development is planned in three stages. Stage 01 establishes the first product, identity checks, purchase and holdings functions, and end-to-end reconciliation between acquired assets and issued units. Stage 02 expands company-level choice, participant trading and METS tiers. Stage 03 broadens the product range and strengthens recurring reporting, asset-sale operations and redemption. Progress reporting would distinguish completed acquisitions, transactions in preparation and opportunities still under consideration.
METS Protocol’s proposed framework brings together smaller participation units, product-level asset records and a transparent operating path. By separating platform utility from company-specific economic interests, the concept aims to give participants a clearer way to understand what they hold, what it costs and how an opportunity may progress from application to eventual settlement.
About METS Protocol
METS Protocol is a proposed platform concept for participating in private-company investment opportunities in smaller units. Its design combines company-specific asset tokens, a separate METS utility token, monthly asset reporting and structured participation, trading and redemption processes. Product availability, eligibility requirements and final terms would be disclosed for each opportunity.
